LOOK UP

Last night, I cried. A lot. Dealing with this brain injury, and everything that has come with it, is really, really hard.

I can feel it trying to break my spirit.

I can feel it trying to darken my resilience.

I consider myself a strong person, but man, this one is knocking hard.

I know that many of YOU are going through something right now that’s knocking hard and is trying to defeat you, too. So if you think I don’t get it, I DO.

When you don’t feel like yourself, it’s easy to feel empty.

When you feel like people don’t understand you, it’s easy to feel lost. When you feel defeated, it’s easy to continue to look down.

I KNOW.

But you HAVE to look UP. Sometimes life is a game of one step forward, two steps back.

And you HAVE to BELIEVE that you will step FORWARD again.

You HAVE to hold on to that hope.

Because the more you believe it, the closer you are to it.

And I truly, truly, truly believe that if you KEEP on believing, and if you KEEP on looking up, one day, or maybe tomorrow, or maybe one of these tomorrows, you WILL make it through. You WILL see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hard times require HOPE. And TRUST. And HEART.

And sometimes you’ll wake up in the morning or you’ll have days where you just don’t feel it.

Those days are okay, too.

But TRY to keep believing.

Because one of these tomorrows, it WILL be better.
